When you’re ready to add a pool to your home, you will have a few decisions to make about the style of it. When it comes to pool designing, one thing that you will have to decide on is its shape. There are a few things that you will need to consider, such as your location and the size of your family. Check out a few of the most popular pool shapes.

Rectangle

Rectangular shaped pools are classic and were one of the most common shaped pools in early pool designs. They are ideal for big families and for swimming laps with their long, straight, and narrow design. Although rectangular pools are a timeless design to consider, there are many other designs that have now taken over the market.

Oval

Oval shaped pools are another good family design. They pretty much have the same functions as rectangular pools, except that they’re rounded at the edges to give them a softer look. They are ideal for families and for water sports.

Kidney

Kidney shaped pools are very similar to the oval shape, just with an indent in one of the sides. They are good for any size backyard. The stylish design is perfect for adding greenery, and even for adding a spa. The shape is very natural and stylish looking.

Figure 8

Figure 8 shaped pools are another style that provides convenience for families. The figure 8 shape gives you nice separation between the shallow end and the deep end of the pool. Your children can play in the shallow end with having a solid idea of where the deep end begins. The indents on each side are great for greenery and/or a spa.
