Congratulations! You’ve bought your dream home, and finally perfected your backyard oasis by installing a swimming pool built just for you! Now, the question is, how do you plan to maintain your outdoor paradise? While your pool is designed to provide you with years of enjoyment, there are some key ways to ensure you and your pool have a long-lasting relationship.

Pool Servicing

The secret to keeping your pool clean and healthy is regular, routine maintenance. Perhaps the easiest, and one of the most important things you can do, is skim the surface every few days, if not daily. Removing debris from the surface and the strainer baskets, before it sinks to the bottom, will not only save you time, but increase water circulation and decrease the amount of chlorine you need to add. Similarly, vacuuming the pool bottom at least once a week will also decrease the amount of chemicals you need to add, simply because you are keeping the water clear. Similarly, scrubbing tiles and brushing walls will also minimize algae and calcium buildup, preventing larger problems from developing in the future. And of course, regular pH testing is imperative to be sure the water is clean and safe. Because simple things such as body oils or fallen leaves can subtly change the pH balance, it is best to have your water tested daily.

Equipment Maintenance

Maintaining your pool’s equipment is equally important in preventing large, costly repairs. For instance, the pumps and filters that keep your pool water clean are a prime example of equipment that requires routine maintenance. Even something as simple as lights, which may seem to be purely aesthetic, are an important safety tool as they illuminate the pool and the surrounding area at night.

A well maintained pool is important to the health and longevity of the pool, and is important for you and your family’s health as well.
