A pool is a major investment. It takes up a lot of space and time, and you want the result to be worth all the trouble. That means that a lot of preparation and thought needs to go into creating it. Otherwise, your new pool will be more trouble than it was worth as it will break down quickly and require a lot of maintenance. Part of this preparation is to call in a professional team of pool builders who can apply their expertise to the job, but before they get there, you will want to take a few steps to help guide them.

Decide On Purpose

The design of a pool should achieve the purpose of the pool. Are you looking for exercise? Then you’ll probably want a simple rectangle that makes swimming laps easy. Are you looking to enhance your landscape? Then the size is less important than the way it blends in with the yard. Once you know what you want, you can sketch out a design.

Check With The Local Government

You would be surprised at how many places have ordinances about pool construction. There might be rules about fencing or placement, or simply be outlawed altogether. Ask before you get invested so that you can avoid later trouble.

Pick A Good Location

There are many things that are underground that you don’t want your pool interfering with. You will want to make sure that you chose a place in your backyard that doesn’t have any water pipes, electrical lines, or septic systems under it so that you don’t cut off your plumbing or power when people start digging. It’s also a good idea to pick an area that is already fairly level so that there is less work for the construction crew.

Pick The Right Team

Make sure you hire experts who are highly recommended and have all the appropriate licenses. A less reputable company could do a slipshod job of it and then disappear, leaving you to deal with the cracks and leaks that come from improper installation.

Fortunately, Alan Jackson Pools has many years of experience in installing pools, both in customizing the design and in building it. If you have any questions about how to prepare for your pool, or you want to hire a good team to make the beautiful pool that you want, contact us.
