The standard pool can be anywhere from 25 meters to 50 meters in length and range in depth from 42 inches to 54 inches. Some can be 8 feet deep and quite a bit longer. This suits many people, but they don’t work for everyone. Sometimes it is better to have a small pool: perhaps something only 2 feet deep and 5 feet long. This type of pool will have many benefits.
Designed For Little Waders
Children love to hop in pools and splash around. Unfortunately, the traditionally-sized pool can be daunting for inexperienced swimmers and children can easily slip their heads underwater. It’s exhausting for their little legs when they try to perform laps, and they can only use part of the pool when they are learning to swim. A shallow, relatively small pool is a great place for children to first learn dog-paddling, breaststroke and other basic swimming strokes, and they can have the whole pool to themselves.
Great For People With Mobility Issues
Water makes people more buoyant, which decreases the stress on joints and makes movement easier. This is why exercising in water is often recommended for people who have joint issues or have other health issues. It’s fun too, so it is a great way to ease into a regular exercise routine if poor health has been discouraging you from developing one. A short pool that is shallow makes this exercise program easy to execute. You can pace the entire pool without putting your head underwater or exhausting yourself.
Fit Anywhere
Water features make every yard beautiful. There is something magical about the way water sparkles in the sunlight, and it brightens up space as nothing else does. However, not all of us have yards big enough or flat enough for a traditional, Olympic-sized pool. A small pool brings the beauty and peace of standing water to those of us living on hills or with small yards.
Safe For Pets
Most dogs and a surprising number of cats like taking a swim every now and again. Main Coon cats are famous for loving water. Springer Spaniels and Poodles were originally bred to hunt waterfowl. Most pools, however, are designed for humans, who are taller and normally stand on two feet. This is why they get to 6 feet deep and are so wide. Dogs who want to swim with their humans have to stay in the shallow end or struggle to keep their tired heads above water. A smaller pool is safer for our shorter, furrier friends.
